Differences between the Order Report and the Product Sales Analysis Report

Differences between the Order Report and the Product Sales Analysis Report

Summary

The Order Report and Product Sales Analysis Report are used for different purposes, so their totals may not match even for the same store and date range.

Order Report

Use the Order Report to review overall order performance and daily sales figures.

The total sales in this report:

  • excludes cancelled, returned/refunded, and unsuccessful orders
  • includes other order-level amounts such as coupons, shipping fees, and other related charges
  • is not limited to product price only

Product Sales Analysis Report

Use the Product Sales Analysis Report to review which products were sold, how many units were sold, and how each product performs by sales channel.

The total sales in this report:

  • excludes cancelled, returned/refunded, and unsuccessful orders
  • includes product price only
  • does not include extra order-level amounts such as shipping fees

Why the totals are different

Even when the store and date range are the same, the total sales can be different because:

  • the Order Report includes additional order-related amounts such as coupons and shipping fees
  • the Product Sales Analysis Report only reflects the full product price

When to use each report

  • Use Order Report when you want to check daily sales trend, order statistics, and overall order-level sales amount.
  • Use Product Sales Analysis Report when you want to analyze which products sold well, which products underperformed, and product performance by channel.
